Puente Nuevo Bridge, Ronda

Address: Pl. España, s/n, 29400 Ronda, Málaga

Ronda’s Puente Nuevo isn’t just a bridge—it’s a jaw-dropper. Spanning the El Tajo gorge at nearly 100 meters high, this 18th-century masterpiece connects Ronda’s old Moorish quarter with its modern center. From the top, you get panoramic views of the canyon, the Serranía de Ronda, and those iconic cliff-hugging houses that feel straight out of a fantasy film.

Construction started in 1751 after the original bridge collapsed (tragically killing 50 people), and it took over 40 years to finish. The architect, José Martín de Aldehuela, literally carved it into the rock below. You can even visit the inside—there’s a mini museum tucked inside the bridge itself, with exhibits on the area’s geology, wildlife, and urban history. It’s dramatic, historic, and absolutely worth the trip.
