Parque del Castillo, Fuengirola

Address: Paseo Marítimo Rey de España, 29640 Fuengirola, Málaga

Parque Fluvial, Fuengirola is one of those spots that hits the sweet spot between chill, culture, and cool things to do. Set right at the mouth of the Fuengirola River—next to the beach and the legendary Sohail Castle—it’s the only park in Málaga province where you can actually rent a kayak or pedal boat and cruise along a navigable canal.

The area is steeped in history: Sohail Castle, towering just 38 meters above sea level, has roots going back to Phoenician and Roman settlements. Rebuilt over centuries by the Moors, Christians, and even Napoleon’s troops, it’s now a venue for major events like the Marenostrum Festival and Oktoberfest. Below, the River Park offers a mellow mix of sports courts, chill-out zones, and waterside beach bars where you can grab a drink with castle views.
