Guadalmina River gorge, Charco de las Mozas, Benahavís

Address: Guadalmina River Trail, Paseo del Río, 29679 Benahavís, Málaga

Just outside the village of Benahavís, the Río Guadalmina carves its way through dramatic cliffs and emerald pools, creating one of the most unforgettable canyoning routes in southern Spain. The highlight? Charco de las Mozas—a deep, natural plunge pool where thrill-seekers leap from rock ledges into crystal-clear water. This spot is pure adrenaline, but still close enough to civilization to feel accessible.

The route begins at the Angosturas trail, a stunning riverside path shaded by Mediterranean flora. From here, you can hike, swim, or rappel your way through the gorge—helmets and wetsuits recommended. It’s one of the most beginner-friendly canyoning spots in Andalucía, but still delivers that wild, off-grid vibe. Not ideal for young kids, but perfect for adventurous couples or groups looking to ditch the beach for a day of cool, fresh water and canyon echoes.

Just a heads-up: summer weekends get busy, and access to the pool is limited—partly to preserve the environment, partly for safety. Go early, and if you’re not an experienced canyoner, consider booking a local guide. Trust us—it’s worth every splash.
