Toro Embolao in Vejer de la Frontera 2026

Date for 2026 TBA (Date for 2025 was April 19th)

Toro Embolao in Vejer de la Frontera is one of those festivals that mixes adrenaline, tradition, and sun-drenched celebration into one unforgettable Easter Sunday. Since 1976, this whitewashed hilltop village has welcomed thousands of people to watch as three massive bulls are released one by one through its winding streets. Locals and visitors line the balconies, cheer from behind barriers, or—if they’re brave—run alongside the bulls. It’s raw, authentic, and deeply rooted in the town’s identity.

The second bull of the day is the one to watch—it’s the fastest, fiercest, and usually gives the longest chase. Between the bull runs, the atmosphere turns into a street party, with food stalls, music, and plenty of local vino. And on Saturday, the Children’s Toro Embolao brings all the energy in a kid-friendly version with a mock heifer. It’s wild, it’s joyful, and it’s Vejer at its most alive.
