The Romería de San Bernabé is Marbella’s way of kicking off summer with tradition, joy, and a whole lot of community spirit. Held in early June, just before the city’s patron saint festivities, it begins in the Church Square with churros and chocolate (because, of course) before locals in flamenco dress and carts decorated with flowers head out in procession to the Ermita de los Monjes in Nagüeles.
This isn’t just a religious event—it’s a full-on countryside celebration. Along the route, people sing, dance, share food, and honor San Bernabé, the city’s patron saint since the 16th century. Once at the chapel, the Pilgrims’ Mass is held outdoors under pine trees, followed by an all-day picnic-style fiesta. It’s authentic, local, and a perfect window into the heart of Marbella beyond the beaches and yachts.
