Las Cruces de Mayo / The Crosses of May 2026

Date for 2026 TBA (Date for 2025 was May 3rd)

Every May, Andalucía transforms into an open-air art gallery with Las Cruces de Mayo—a vibrant tradition where entire neighborhoods compete to create the most spectacular flower-covered crosses. You’ll find them in courtyards, plazas, and tucked-away alleyways, especially in Córdoba, Granada, and Seville, surrounded by potted geraniums, flamenco music, and makeshift bars dishing out tapas and cold drinks.

The roots of the festival stretch back to pagan rituals celebrating spring, later embraced by Christianity to honor the Holy Cross. Today, it’s more about community, creativity, and living the good life. Whether you’re into local culture or just want a romantic stroll through flower-filled streets with a glass of fino in hand, this festival delivers pure Andalusian magic—with plenty of Sevillanas dancing under the stars. Kid-friendly, camera-ready, and completely unforgettable.
