The Feria del Queso in Villaluenga del Rosario, held annually in April, is a celebration of Andalusia’s rich and diverse cheese-making heritage, drawing over 30,000 visitors each year to this quaint town in Cádiz. With more than 40,000 kilos of cheese sold, the fair is a major event for the local economy, contributing over 2.2 million euros in total impact. Visitors can sample cheeses from six designations of origin, representing the best of Spain and Portugal, and pair them with local wines, creating a perfect fusion of flavors. A highlight of the fair is the Andalusian Cheese Competition, where 93 cheeses are judged across ten categories, with El Llano Jaral from Málaga taking the title of Best Cheese in Andalusia in previous years. The festival also includes musical performances, adding to the vibrant atmosphere, and the presence of renowned producers such as Quesos Payoyo, Flor Bermeja, and Quesos Doñana, who have earned well-deserved recognition for their artisan creations.
