Carromato de Mijas, Mijas Pueblo

Address: Av. del Compás, 22, 29650 Mijas, Málaga

If you’ve ever wanted to see a naval battle on the head of a pin or The Last Supper painted on a grain of rice, the Carromato de Mijas is your next must-stop. Just off the main streets of Mijas Pueblo, this quirky miniature museum is packed with 360 tiny treasures, from dressed-up fleas to ballet dancers carved into toothpicks. And yes—it’s all real.

Opened in 1972 by a globetrotting collector known as Max, the museum is a tribute to the art of travel, human patience, and making magic out of everyday materials. Think matchsticks, breadcrumbs, and soap turned into impossibly intricate works of art. It’s small, cheap (€3), and totally unforgettable.
