Sierra Mágina Natural Park, Jaén

Address: Centro de Visitantes Mata Bejid, Carretera J-3240, Km 10, 23537 Cambil, Jaén

Sierra Mágina Natural Park is where wild limestone peaks rise straight out of the olive groves—an untamed, rocky fortress just 40 minutes from Jaén city. At 2,167 metres, Pico Mágina claims the title of the province’s highest point, offering jaw-dropping views and a real sense of remoteness. The terrain’s harshness has kept it pristine, making this one of Andalucía’s best-preserved corners for hiking, birdwatching, and breathing deep mountain air.

Despite its rugged vibe, the park is full of surprises: century-old Aleppo pines in the Pinar de Cánava, frozen waterfalls on the Adelfal de Cuadros trail, and ultra-rare plants like the Jurinea fotqueri, found nowhere else on Earth. It’s also a raptor haven—home to one of Europe’s densest populations of golden eagles, plus vultures and the elusive bearded vulture.

The surrounding villages—like Bedmar, Torres, and Bélmez de la Moraleda—add a cultural layer, with traditional cuisine and hilltop castles to explore. Whether you’re into epic viewpoints, Mediterranean wildlife, or off-grid adventure, Sierra Mágina delivers in full.
